What's in the box

Everything you need between the bite and the cooler

One photo answers the questions that matter: What is it? Can I keep it? How many? How big? HookID puts the answers next to the fish, not buried in a PDF.

Photo identification

Snap or upload a photo and get ranked species matches with confidence scores, powered by the Fishial.AI recognition engine.

FWC rules at a glance

Slot limits, bag limits, and seasons for 65+ Florida species — shown the moment your fish is identified, so you can decide keep-or-release with confidence.

Protected species alerts

Goliath Grouper, Bonefish, and other no-harvest species get an unmissable red banner — so an honest mistake never becomes a violation.

Private catch journalPRO

Log every catch with photos, notes, and location. Your journal lives on your phone — never on our servers — and works with no signal at all.

Weather & tidesPRO

NOAA marine forecasts and tide predictions for your spot, so you can plan the trip before you burn the gas.

Species explorer

Browse the full library: habitat, seasons, diet, and lure recommendations for every species — like a field guide that fits in your pocket.

How it works

From "what is that?" to an answer in seconds

Snap your catch

Take a photo in the app or pick one from your camera roll. Works from the boat, the pier, the bank, or the kayak.

AI identifies it

Your photo is matched against the Fishial.AI recognition engine and HookID ranks the most likely species with a confidence score.

Check the rules

Current FWC slot, bag, and season info appears with the match — including a clear warning when a species is protected or out of season.

Regulations

Slot. Bag. Season. Answered at the water.

Florida's rules change by species, size, and time of year. HookID pairs every identification with the regulation summary that matters in the moment:

  • Slot and minimum size limits in plain language
  • Daily bag limits per person
  • Open and closed seasons, updated with FWC changes
  • Special notes — like fish that must stay whole until landed

HookID is an informational aid, not legal advice — always verify current regulations at MyFWC.com.

Conservation

Protected species, impossible to miss

Some of Florida's most iconic fish — Goliath Grouper, Nassau Grouper, Bonefish, Lemon Shark, Great Hammerhead — must go straight back in the water. When HookID recognizes one, the regulation card is replaced by a banner you can't overlook.

Conditions · HookID Pro

Read the water before you leave the driveway

HookID pulls marine weather and tide predictions straight from NOAA — the same data the pros use — for the spot you're fishing, not the nearest airport.

  • Hourly and 5-day marine forecasts
  • Tide highs and lows for nearby stations
  • Wind, precipitation, and temperature at a glance
Privacy by design

Your catch data is yours. Full stop.

No accounts, and nothing of yours gets sold. The free version is supported by ads from Google AdMob — and HookID Pro removes every one of them. Either way, your journal, photos, and GPS location never go to advertisers.

Your journal stays home

Catch entries, photos, and locations are stored only on your device. We can't see them. We can't lose them. We can't sell them.

Photos used once

An ID photo is sent securely to Fishial.AI for identification only — it isn't stored, logged, or retained by HookID's servers.

Ads, the honest way

Free-version ads are clearly marked banners. You control personalization through your device's tracking prompt, and going Pro removes ads — and ad data collection — entirely. Privacy Policy →

FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers

When does HookID launch?
HookID is feature-complete and we're preparing our App Store and Google Play submissions now. "Coming soon" means exactly that — check back here for launch news, or email support@hookid.app with any questions.
Will it be free?
Yes — HookID is free to download and use, supported by small banner ads. The full identification and regulations experience is included in the free version. HookID Pro, an optional subscription, removes all ads and unlocks the private catch journal and marine weather features.
What do I get with HookID Pro?
Three things: the catch journal (photos, GPS, notes, and personal stats — stored only on your device), full marine weather & tides from NOAA, and an ad-free app, end to end. Pricing and billing terms are shown in the app before you subscribe, and you can cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play settings.
Does it work offline?
The species library — and the catch journal, if you're a Pro subscriber — works fully offline. Photo identification needs a connection — the AI runs in the cloud, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend to identify fish without it.
Which species does it cover?
The regulations database covers 65+ Florida species, saltwater and freshwater — from Redfish, Snook, and Spotted Seatrout to Largemouth Bass — each with FWC slot, bag, and season info plus habitat and lure notes. The identification engine itself recognizes a much wider range of fish.
Does HookID work outside Florida?
At launch, HookID's regulation data — slot, bag, and season limits — covers Florida only, and the app is built for Florida anglers in salt and fresh water. Photo identification recognizes fish anywhere, but keep/release guidance is Florida-specific for now, with more states on the roadmap. Email support@hookid.app to tell us which state to add next.
How accurate is the identification?
Identification is AI-assisted and presented with a confidence score. When confidence is low, HookID deliberately holds back regulation guidance rather than risk a wrong keep/release call. The final identification — and the legal responsibility — always rests with the angler.
Is this official FWC guidance?
No. HookID summarizes published FWC regulations as an informational aid, but it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Always verify current rules at MyFWC.com before keeping any fish.
